I am pleased to announce that Geoffrey Kirles will join the University as the next vice president and treasurer. Geoff will start his career at the University in mid-April and assume his vice presidential post on June 1. He will be responsible for treasury and business services functions including investments, debt and cash management, auxiliaries, risk management, and environmental health and safety.
Geoff joins us from J.P. Morgan where he is an executive director. Over the last 16 years, he has held a number of positions at J.P. Morgan, primarily in debt capital markets, focusing on leveraged finance.
He has an M.B.A. in finance, accounting, strategic management, and entrepreneurship from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.A. in finance from Michigan State University. He and his wife, Dawn, relocated to South Florida from New York City about a year ago to be closer to family.
After joining the University, Geoff will spend his first few weeks overlapping with Vice President of Finance and Treasurer John Shipley, who will be departing on May 31, and orienting throughout University operations. John’s other responsibilities – the controller’s office, research administration, and supply chain/procurement – will report directly to me, beginning June 1.
Please join me in welcoming Geoff to the University. Let me know if you have any questions.
