Phil ProfetaPhilip Profeta joined the University of Miami in 2014 and currently serves as associate vice president and chief supply chain officer for supply chain services. He is responsible for consolidating and leading the University’s entire procurement/supply chain structure across various campuses including the health care system. In this capacity he leads the University’s efforts to consolidate and modernize the University’s procurement structure, systems, materials management processes and policies with the goal of decreasing spending and expanding supply chain support all across the University of Miami.

Mr. Profeta comes to UM from the Baylor-Scott & White Health System headquartered in Temple and Dallas, Texas. As vice president of supply chain operations at Baylor-Scott & White, Mr. Profeta integrated all supply chain functions when the Scott & White Health System merged with the Baylor Health Care System, creating a single organization with 43 acute care hospitals, 500 care sites, two 100,000-square-foot warehouses and 42,000 square miles of coverage area. Prior to Baylor Scott & White, Mr. Profeta held supply chain leadership positions at the University of Rochester and Yale New Haven Health, in Connecticut.

For over 25 years he has held various leadership posts in purchasing/materials management and health administration including senior level administration/management of clinical areas including pharmacy, medical imaging, and clinical-diagnostic laboratory. Mr. Profeta has worked for companies in California, Texas, Maine, Connecticut, and New York. In Mr. Profeta’s career to date, he has held leadership positions in the areas and fields of supply chain management, e-commerce, national group purchasing, software development, consulting, and creation of strategic alliances between providers and leading technology developers. His role as an educator and consultant has extended both nationally and internationally including countries in North America, Europe, and Eastern Europe. Mr. Profeta has provided programs and seminars ranging from capital asset management to the development of corporate contracts, and national group purchasing assessment and management.

Mr. Profeta is a graduate of St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York; Profeta studied business at the University of Rochester, the Rochester Institute of Technology, and the Managed Care Executive Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School.
