Gabriel Eszterhas rejoined the University of Miami in 2015 as Associate Vice President and Controller. In this capacity he is responsible for the University’s financial reporting, general and fixed asset accounting, tax compliance, accounts payable as well as playing a key role in internal controls. He had previously served as the director of budget for the University’s Miller School of Medicine.
Mr. Eszterhas has over 13 years of experience in higher education including positions as the Assistant Vice President for the FIU Foundation, Vice President for Administration & Finance at Baruch College (CUNY), and three director level positions at NYU. Prior to his higher education experience, he worked in county government in New York City. A veteran of Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, Mr. Eszterhas began his professional life as an active duty infantry officer.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the City College of the City University of New York, a master’s degree in history from Columbia University, an MBA in finance from New York University, and a master’s degree in accounting from Florida Atlantic University.
